Goodness…

Since the beginning of time as we know it, there has been evil in the world. Yet, there’s a lot of good, too. Don’t be afraid to rock the boat against injustice. Speak up for those who feel like they don’t have a voice. We need more good people to lead well…

Rainy Days…

I love the rain. We seldom see much rain in Texas, so perhaps the rarity of rain makes me appreciate it more. It’s the same with the people we are grateful for in our lives. Let’s make sure they know they are appreciated and loved by our actions…

Inside/Out

All across society, we see people who are trying to find themselves through external means. I’ve done it myself, which I discussed in my book, “Killing My Father Then Finding Him.” Here’s some truth: we find our value when we realize God created us exactly how He wanted us to be. Happy?

At wedding receptions, people make toasts to the newlyweds. Most of those toasts include wishing the couple a lifetime of happiness. That’s not realistic. I’m not being a downer here, but if you’re pursuing a life that’s happy all the time, you will not find it. Happiness is moment by moment. Acceptance…

In my book, “Killing My Father Then Finding Him” I wrote about the fractured relationship I had with both my parents. They were cruel and abusive, and I never felt like I was good enough. This carried into adulthood. After many years of hard, self-work I was able to rid myself of the need for the approval of others. If you are dealing with this, I encourage you to work on yourself. It isn’t easy, but it will free you from the demons inside your head. You will be free…

Columbine High School…

“I have this theory that if one person goes out of their way to show compassion, it will start a chain reaction of the same. You never know how far a little kindness will go.” – Rachel Joy Scott

Today is the 22nd anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre. Rachel was the first child killed that day. Yet, even with all the darkness of that day, it couldn’t stop light from emerging. Rachel’s Challenge was born, based upon the writings and influence of Rachel Scott. She continues to start chain reactions of kindness and compassion all across the world. Over 30 million people have experienced Rachel’s story. But the work continues…
Rest In Peace, Rachel. Your life mattered…

Expectations…

We live in a world where comparison reigns. Do your best and eliminate comparison from your mindset. Do not allow or accept the expectations of the world.
