Healing
When I was a teenager, my life was full of anger, hatred and resentment. I couldn’t wait to get out of my cruel, sometimes violent home life. I stuffed down a lot of my feelings during these years because I wasn’t “allowed” to feel them. When I finally got free at 18 and moved out, I thought I was leaving my past behind. I thought wrong.
The trauma from the past resurfaces from time to time. Our minds are such incredible supercomputers, lighting fast and efficient at knowing what we need to live fully. We are automatically hardwired to live the way our Creator designed us to live.
Wounds from the past bubble to the top, and we can either face them or stuff them back down. They will return, but our brains know when to allow them to resurface. The wounds appear when we are ready to heal from them. The timing is perfect. Trust the timing…
My Interview With Melissa Fleming
There is no word to describe the loss of a child. I believe it’s too painful to describe.
In 2016, Melissa Fleming and her family were given the worst news imaginable. Their son, Brock, was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Not quite 7 at the time, Brock couldn’t understand why he was the only kid in school with brain cancer. Yet, Brock wasn’t deterred. He wanted to “kick cancer in the nuts!”
Click on the link to watch how this brave family dealt with the loss of a child, and how they are continuing Brock’s desire to kick it in the nuts!
Religion
I don’t believe in organized religion. Religion has been used to hurt people. Personally, I follow Jesus and try to live up to the example He set for us. Jesus was a radical, saying things like “love your enemies,” and “pray for those who persecute you.” One thing He didn’t do was bring the world more religion. He showed us the true character of God.
Religion will continue. The rules of religion (no drinking or dancing etc) will remain. I simply study the life of the One who redeemed and restored hurting people…
Acceptance
Judging others drains you of valuable energy. Accepting people as they are opens the door to new ways of seeing life around us. Our minds are open to new possibilities, new creativity.
If people are jerks, keep them out of your circle of friends and acquaintances. You can’t change their hearts. Only God can do that. By limiting their access to your life, you are protecting yourself while still accepting them as they are. Something to consider…
Divided
In the United States, we are more divided now than since the Civil War. There’s nothing civil about war. We are weakened and compromised when we stand apart. The media and the politicians are feeding this division, but we do not have to allow it. In truth, we are more alike than we are different. Stand up for what’s right. Let the dividers wallow in their own mess…
Peace…
Today, Christmas Day is the most peaceful day of the year. Families and friends are together, enjoying the festivities. Yet, there are still people who aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from. Estranged relationships won’t be repaired because pride stands in the way. Take a brief moment to count your blessings, and remember to help those who are less fortunate. Peace to all…
