The Meek

Being a meek person doesn’t mean you are weak or afraid to stand up for yourself. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. We think of the word in the wrong way.

Meek means strength under control. To display meekness means that when the crowd is losing their minds, you are the one who remains steady, the one who leads.

Meekness is strength of character, too. The meek don’t fold when things get tough. They remain steadfast in their convictions, sometimes running counterculture in the process.

Strive for meekness. Be strong when the world around you is weak.

And if you are a meek person, showing strength under control, you won’t need to tell anyone. Others will know…

Imposters

We all fake our way through certain situations. Introverted people act extroverted when forced to be in a group setting. Jerks act like good guys when they are vying for the pretty girl. Eventually everyone gets exposed.

There’s a better way. Just be yourself. Always work at improving yourself, but stay true to who you are. Don’t fake it, simply face it…

Faith…

Struggling Kids…

Yesterday I was privileged to speak to a group of foster children. It felt great to be speaking again, especially with kids. I was an insecure, angry, struggling kid myself, and because of my upbringing I connect with kids.

If a child reached out to you, please take the time to engage with them. Kids today need hope, they need validation, and they need us…

Predictions…

People go to palm readers and soothsayers to find out what their future holds. The predictions are wrong, of course, because only God knows how our lives will turn out. Focus on what His word says about how we should live, and everything will turn out fine…

Lists…

We make grocery lists, to-do lists, and lists to remind us of the errands we have to accomplish. I keeps another list: it’s a list of people I want to interview for my podcast. It’s a list of people I want to have dinner with. A list of people whose story I want to know better. And I reach out to the people on the list, trying to engage. And I refuse to give up, putting God in the driver’s seat to connect us. Make your own list. And keep going…
