Change. Really?

Fifty years ago, the band Ten Years After released a song titled “I’d Love to Change The World.” In the lyrics, they talk of noble ideas such as feed the poor, stop war, and eliminate pollution. Yet, in the chorus the lyricist wrote, “I’d love to change the world, but I don’t know what to do.”

These world challenges are huge, almost overwhelming. But I believe we can do something about them. Change begins when we are willing to do something. Change begins with me…

Struggling Kids…

Yesterday I was privileged to speak to a group of foster children. It felt great to be speaking again, especially with kids. I was an insecure, angry, struggling kid myself, and because of my upbringing I connect with kids.

If a child reached out to you, please take the time to engage with them. Kids today need hope, they need validation, and they need us…

People go to palm readers and soothsayers to find out what their future holds. The predictions are wrong, of course, because only God knows how our lives will turn out. Focus on what His word says about how we should live, and everything will turn out fine…

Greed…

In the movie, “Wall Street,” the main character told us that “greed is good.” By definition, greed means a selfish desire for wealth and power. There is nothing wrong with wealth and power until you throw selfishness into the mix. Keep your motives true and noble, and should you start feeling selfish, give away what you have accumulated.
