How Is It Going?

We are seven weeks into 2023. Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions? It’s estimated that 95% of resolutions involve fitness. That’s a good thing.

The bad news is, about 90% of fitness goals are abandoned before the end of January. Old, bad habits return, and self-esteem takes a hit.

Getting fit and staying healthy should be fun! But so many people go about it wrong. They start jogging and eating like a rabbit. Where’s the fun in that? Not to mention you won’t get the results you desire.

Here’s some advice: get a trainer who understands your fitness goals for your body. They will make a plan, and guide you through exercises which will strengthen you and benefit you in the long term. You need to lift weights, and you need to eat. Lifting will make you hungry as hell. Don’t starve yourself! Eat!

If you have given up on your fitness goals for 2023, I encourage you to try again. The only failures are the ones who quit…

Proactive

Are you a proactive person or are you reactive? It might depend upon the situation.

Proactive people get things done. They don’t wait around to see what life sends their way. Being proactive means going after what you want.

All of us are reactive sometimes. Life isn’t predictable, so when plans go awry we adapt.

If you aren’t living the full life you desire, you can change things if you’re willing…

Difficulty

All of us experience difficulties in life. This side of eternity is imperfect. Here is my perspective on life’s challenges.

God allows us to go through the troughs of life. He is in control, and it’s important to remember that God doesn’t cause bad things to happen. He allows it. He is using it to prepare us for something more while, hopefully we shift our focus more onto Him.

God is on our side. Always. And that includes the ugly periods of life…

Walk Away

It takes courage to walk away from people who aren’t good for you. Our neural pathways are strong. They have been formed over years of repetition.

Breaking old bad habits is hard. You feel uncomfortable. Here’s my recommendation: just sit with the discomfort. It’s a feeling, nothing more. It will pass. When the discomfort returns, and it will, sit with it. The uncomfortable feeling will leave, sooner than the last time.

Eventually you will conquer the discomfort, if you don’t give up. Just keep going…

Dreams Have Power

Our dreams for our lives have power. But how do we harness that power and turn our dreams into reality?

Accept that your mind is exceptionally powerful. The key to manifesting our dreams comes from our minds. We must see ourselves with a successful outcome, and we have to feel it, too. Whatever it is, believe you have already achieved it, hold on tightly to your vision, and work like hell to bring it to life.

You can have everything you want in life, if you believe…

You

Do you find it hard to stand up for yourself? Many people do. It seems everyone wants to “play nice” and not rock the boat.” Some people say, “let’s just make the best of it.”

That’s weak, and shows a lack of self-esteem. You are not making the best of anything with that attitude. You are compromising yourself, and that tears at your self worth.

You were created by God, and He doesn’t make worthless people. Standing your ground might seem difficult in the beginning, but if you are on the side of what’s right you should speak up.

Don’t compromise. Stand up for yourself…

Rest

Do you ever feel worn out? I believe most people have felt this way, whether physically or mentally. As a writer, sometimes I hit critical mass and my mind stops the flow of creative thoughts. I’m able to recognize it and walk away for a period of time.

Sometimes you just need to take a break and rest. American culture has some guilt associated with rest, but I encourage you to think counter culturally. Give yourself some peaceful rest, then start again. You will be better for doing so…

Perspectives

People love to argue, would you agree? Nowadays with social media it makes it easy for people to spew hatred at each other without any real consequences. Why waste the time and energy?

Two people can view the same object, and they will have different perspectives. The object is the same, but the lens it is being viewed through is different for everyone.

I default to the old saying, “seek first to understand before trying to be understood.” When we see things through the eyes of others, our perspective changes, and that’s a good thing…
