Self acceptance begins with the messages our parents gave us. If they believed in us and taught us that we can overcome adversity, then we probably had a solid foundation from which to grow. But for those of us whose parents told us we would never amount to anything, we had a steeper hill to climb.

Listen to the inner voice that encourages you, the voice that speaks the truth into your mind. Then go to work…

Why does Monday always get a bad rap? I know it means the weekend is over, but you will have another weekend in five days. If you woke up this morning and are reading this, be grateful. You have another day to live. Anyone whose name is listed in the obituary column would gladly trade places with you on your worst Monday. Something to consider…

Remember Me?

In 2018, my first book was published. The book is called, “Killing My Father Then Finding Him.” The theme of the book is about how I came to forgive both of my parents for the abuse and neglect I felt all through my childhood. I hid my upbringing from my friends in school. I masked it well because recently I read a short piece one of my childhood friends wrote about me and why he was buying the book. He wrote, “what I remember about John was his passion for life and his genuine concern for others.”


If you are holding onto pain from your past, I encourage you to do the work on yourself to heal. I did, and I promise it isn’t easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.
