Timing

We tend to rush through our day, trying to cram as much in as possible. Maybe I’m the only one?

When we get in a hurry, the odds of us making a mistake go up. This might include not listening to someone who needs to be heard. Instead of creating a deeper connection, we distance ourselves.

I encourage you to slow down, even if it’s just a little. You will do more things right the first time, and fewer opportunities will be missed…

Our Post-Pandemic World

In the past several months, I have heard from so many people who are struggling with anxiety, depression and feelings they haven’t felt before. The common theme with each of them has been, “I don’t understand why I feel this way. I’ve never been like this before.”

God prompted me to remind them of what we have dealt with since 2020. Isolation has shredded mental health and created new, unhealthy neural pathways. We are hardwired to be in relationship with each other. This goes beyond loneliness. We are experiencing a mental health crisis that’s worse than the pandemic. More people than ever are feeling hopeless and taking their own lives.

If you are reading this and are experiencing similar feelings, please reach out to someone. Your life is precious and has purpose. None of that has changed because of a virus.

The Suicide Prevention Hotline is 988. It’s confidential, free, and it might be the lifeline you need…

Moods

I often say, “I have one mood, and it’s good!” It’s true. I don’t allow the difficulties of the day to affect my mood.

Every day we will face unknown challenges. As much as we want to believe we can control what happens to us, we are not in control. God has a much greater plan that we are incapable of understanding. So let’s trust that He is on our side, and that good can come from even our worst day.

When you let go of the desire to control, freedom waits…

The Past

Do you know anyone who spends much of their time focusing on days gone by? All of us have fond memories of past events, but that’s what they are, just memories.

Some things from our pasts are hard times we went through. They were lessons to be learned along the road of life. Learn them and move on. Leave them where they belong, in the past.

Every day is an opportunity to create more fond memories. Remember to focus on the good in your life. Be grateful for something every day. Leave the past in the past and look forward with both eyes open…

Inanity

The title of today’s blog describes the culture of today. We have a Congress that created a bill called “The Inflation Reduction Act.” You cannot reduce inflation through reckless spending, which is what the bill accomplished. We have biological men competing and excelling in women’s sports, with very little pushback from women’s groups. There are many more societal ills, too many to list.

Meanwhile our enemies are advancing towards world domination while we can’t decide which bathroom to use. It’s time to wake up. We can’t waste another day…

When

Are you waiting for everything to align perfectly before you begin your life’s dream? I encourage you to stop waiting and start doing. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.

Take a step in the direction of your dreams. Then take another. Expect things to go awry sometimes. You will redirect and be back on track! Just begin…

History

I wonder how historians will treat this strange era we are living in. One hundred years from now will be here before we know it.

In the United States, we have biological men playing women’s sports. Of course they are excelling. Men are stronger than women. I don’t know about you, but I believe women are much prettier and more feminine when they don’t have beards!

Certain politicians tell us we are “systemically racist.” We aren’t, but these weak-minded politicians love to stir people up and keep us divided.

If you are interested in learning about history, read the autobiographies of Booker T. Washington and Frederick Douglass. You will love their stories of overcoming great obstacles and thriving.

We are making our own histories every moment of every day. Let’s give the historians something worthwhile to write about…

Try It!

Remember when you were a kid and learning what foods you liked? People would say, “try it you might like it.” To this day, I wish I had never tried barbecue or Tex-Mex. My waistline battle would be much easier!

When you start something new, you aren’t proficient in it immediately. It takes time. None of us walked perfectly when we first started, but we didn’t quit.

Trying something new is adventurous. You might not learn to play guitar as well as Eric Clapton, but you will reach a skill level of proficiency if you stick with it. I encourage you to start on the ideas you hold in your mind and heart. Stay with it when setbacks come. Let your confidence build. Try it today…

Pulled

We are busier today than we have ever been before. People are working longer hours, sacrificing their relationships and their health, while gaining very little ground. Is the trade-off worth it?

We all have our priorities. We spend our time focusing on what, or who is most important to us. These are matters of the heart.

Learn to say no to anything that robs you of time with your children. Say yes to gratifying experiences! You don’t need to feel guilty for not allowing yourself to be pulled away from what matters most. And equally important, take care of yourself…
