Gods

What do you make gods out of? For some people, it’s money and prestige. For others, their fears become their god.

Anything we spend an inordinate amount of time focusing on could become our god. Fear and worry dominate some people’s lives, but the Bible tells us 365 times not to worry, once for every day of the year. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Pay attention to what you think about, where your attention lies. There is your god…

In The Dark

Charity should come from the heart. God has said repeatedly that He wants our hearts over everything else. And only the Spirit can soften the heart of mankind.

Our giving is between us and God. It’s not to be flaunted or posted to get “likes” on social media. There are times I am okay with other people sharing their giving with their followers. Perhaps their generosity inspires others to give. And that’s a good thing…

Flags

A country’s flag gives us a first glance into that country’s culture. Flags have symbols and colors that are meaningful.

The Lebanese flag has the colors red and white on it surrounding a cedar tree. Red represents bloodshed, while white represents purity. The cedar tree represents the Bible. Interesting, huh?

The American flag has thirteen stripes and 50 stars, each representing one of our 50 independent states and our original 13 colonies.

The next time you visit another country, or even a different state, take a look at their flag. You will learn something, and it will mean something to their citizens…

Worry

How much time does you spend worrying? However much that is, it’s too much. Most of us don’t have time to waste, so eliminate worry from your life.

Eliminate worry? How? Change your focus. Keep your eyes on the Word of God. There are 365 times in the Bible we are told to not be fearful. That’s one time for every day of the year. I don’t believe that’s coincidental.

Peace of mind will replace worry. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it will happen if you commit…

Texting

Texting has made us lazy. Texting is convenient for quick check-ins, but they aren’t conversations.

Electronics have practically taken over our lives. Email, ZOOM and instant messaging are great for saving time. Yet, we need to make time for others. We need human connection, and you cannot get the same effect from a screen.

Replacing the sound of another voice seems to be the norm nowadays. Let’s change that…

Unguarded

We erect walls around ourselves to keep people out. If people get too close and see inside, they might not like us.

When you allow your guard to come down, it encourages others to do the same. We have an opportunity to connect at a deeper level. This creates intimacy. Deep down, don’t we want people we can be close to?

I encourage you to be unguarded. Some people will be judgmental. Those aren’t the people for you. Find your people…

Blessing God

If the title of this blog didn’t get your attention, check for a pulse.

How do we bless God, the King of the universe? He is the only One who gives and gives. Through His generosity, we woke up this morning. Our hearts and minds work. We can breathe.

We bless our Creator through our faith. By believing in Him, that He is good and only does good in our lives, we are blessing God.

It’s easy to believe when life is going well. Keep believing with unwavering faith when life is a shitshow and you will be blessing God…

Users

It hurts when you find out someone has used you. Conflicting emotions flood your mind, from disbelief to anger. People take advantage of nice people to advance their own selfish agendas.

So what do you do to resolve it? You do something that is counterculture: you pray for them. Praying for the offender doesn’t cancel the hurt. It acknowledges that the offender is for God to handle, not me. He is in charge of human hearts.

Over time, you will find it in your heart to forgive them. And remember to learn from the pain. Then what you went through has purpose…
