Fairness

We all know that life is hard and life isn’t fair. Life on this side of eternity will remain imperfect. But that’s where the beauty lies.

If life was fair and equitable, opportunity wouldn’t exist. We would all be the same.

Take some time to take a personal inventory of all the opportunities you have been given. And be on the lookout for your next opportunity. It’s coming…

What Day Is Today?

Every day is recognized for something. A few days again it was “International Cat Day,” while today is “National Trail Mix Day.” Trail Mix? Seriously?

We should remember that each day God gives us life, our purpose should be to bring people into the light. Spreading goodness never goes out of style. Be a positive influence on those around us.

Be a light, no matter what day it is…

My Interview With Kim Gatlin

In 2006, Kim Gatlin wrote a book titled, “Good Christian Bitches.” The book went viral, and Kim’s phone started blowing up. Next thing you know, she’s being represented by the esteemed William Morris Agency and taking meetings with the top comedy producers in Hollywood who want to turn her book into a television series. In 2012, “GCB” premiered on ABC Television. When God steps in, things happen that don’t just happen.
Click on the link to watch our lively interview. Kim takes us through where the idea for the title came from and the whirlwind her life became after the book’s release:

Valued

What are you worth? I’m not talking about how much money you have. I mean the value of your life.

I grew up being told I was “worthless,” that I “would never amount to anything” by my parents. Today I believe they were projecting onto me how they felt about themselves.

The truth is, we are all so much more valuable than we sometimes believe. What are your eyes worth, or your brain? Would you trade your arms for one million dollars? Of course not!

Take inventory of yourself. Believe in all the good you have been given by our Creator, and never sell yourself short…

Loyalty

Loyalty is a value I place high on people whom I allow into my inner circle of friends. And it’s not that hard to be loyal. Standing firm in allegiance to your family and friends should be part of who you are.

Lance Armstrong cheated because he wanted to win a bike race. One-fifth of men cheat on their spouse, while 13% of women do the same. If you have been the victim of a cheater, I’m sorry. And I encourage you not to project that experience onto others. You might miss bringing some really good people into your life…

Give

We humans have a tendency to be selfish. It’s our default mechanism. We hold on tightly to our money and our time out of fear.

When we give, we get. This is true and I encourage you to test it. Even more remarkable, there is only one time in Scripture that God tells us to “test Him.” You can find it in Malachi 3:10.

Life is like a boomerang. When you throw the boomerang, it returns to you but picks up speed on the turn and comes back faster. What we give, we get…

Quiet

There is something peaceful about early morning before the busyness of the day begins. We need quiet in our lives to clear our minds and our thoughts.

Quiet makes some people uncomfortable. They revel in the noise. I encourage you, if you are one of those people, learn to be comfortable in the quiet. The noise of the world will always be there waiting for you to return…

Dirt

The National Enquirer was founded in 1926 as a legitimate news source, but subscriptions didn’t take off until the late 1950’s when the publication morphed into a sensational tabloid. It seemed The Enquirer had found it’s niche.

Why is there an appetite for getting the dirt on famous people’s lives? They are just like you and me with families, friends, struggles, successes and heartache. Perhaps we like to focus on the lives of others so we don’t have to look at ourselves. Or maybe we empathize with their plight and realize, they are just like us.

Introspection is the difficult, but worthwhile way to go. Leave the lives of others alone, and keep the focus on building your life…
