An Uncomfortable Truth

You’ve probably heard the saying, “people are doing the best they can.” That’s usually not true.

Don’t get me wrong. I have great compassion for working families who are doing everything they can to make ends meet and hold it together. I’m talking about the people who have been given great gifts, yet don’t fully utilize them. I’m referring to the people who choose television over human connection. Those who aren’t giving their best.

Everyone procrastinates. Don’t let procrastination become a way of life and miss your true calling…

Failure

We fail at things every day. But how you define failure will determine if you really have failed or not.

Your failures don’t define you unless you allow them to. Having a success mindset means you are willing to accept some failures along the way. When you understand this, you will be free of the fear of failure and you become unstoppable.

Pretenders

Did you ever play make believe games when you were a child? I certainly did. I would put a cape on and pretend I was Superman. One time I jumped off the roof of our house and pretended to fly. It didn’t end well…

Some people continue make believe into adulthood. They might act a little greater than they really are, trying to impress others.

Allowing other people to see the real you is freeing. It’s true that some people might not like you, but it doesn’t matter. You have to like you, and that requires being comfortable with who you are.

So accept yourself as you are while constantly trying to improve yourself. God created you and me, so we are good enough…

The Reverend Dr. Daryl Horton has a remarkable humility about him. In our conversation, we discussed his calling to the ministry, his challenges getting there, the “rules of religion,” and how God has always shown up. Have you ever wondered how a pastor gives a eulogy for someone they don’t know? Or are you curious about how prayer works? It’s all there and more in our interview.

Insecurities

Most people are insecure about something. For example, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. I don’t know about you, but I’m more afraid of death than I am giving a speech!

We also have things we exude confidence in, our securities. Focus on those while seeking to improve on whatever might make you feel insecure…
