Progress

We have heard of the “overnight success.” What a misnomer. Success comes, but it requires diligence, perseverance and commitment.

So often, people give up too quickly. Their expectations of overnight success are misguided. It takes time for us to develop.

If you are struggling with what you perceive to be a lack of progress, I encourage you to keep going. Your best days lie ahead if you decide that nothing can make you quit…

Faithful

As children, we were taught to never lie, cheat or steal. Not everyone took to the teaching.

If someone lies, cheats, steals or participates in any type immoral behavior, they might get away with it. A short-term “success” of this kind does long-term damage to the individual. Their self-esteem takes the hit.

Staying faithful through tough situations is hard. But the situation will pass, and remaining solid will build you into a better, stronger person. Stay faithful…

Routine

Vacations are something we look forward to because they are a break from our routines. Routines are necessary for daily life, and yet they can produce boredom and even apathy.

People settle into routines in their free time, too. They watch television, play online games etc. Over time, these habits bring more boredom into our lives.

We must stimulate our minds with good books, art and music. We are hardwired to grow, and creating new neural pathways increases our desire to grow.

Find a new routine. Try something different. And where your new habit becomes less exciting, don’t give it up completely. Try something new!

Impressive

Insecure people try to impress us with their possessions, their position in life and their importance. These things are nice, but they are meaningless in the grand scheme.

Did you want to impress me? Show me you are a kind hearted person who has unshakable character. Show me you are trustworthy, and that your word stands for something. This is what impresses me…

Have vs. Have Not

Are you grateful for all the good in your life? Family, friends, fresh air, clean water and sunshine are some of the things we can take for granted.

Comparing yourself and your life to others can take your focus off of what you have. Then you start concentrating on what you lack. This only leads to frustration and disappointment.

Keep a list of all the things you’re grateful for. Your focus will change, but it will change for the better…

What Day Is Today?

Every day is recognized for something. A few days again it was “International Cat Day,” while today is “National Trail Mix Day.” Trail Mix? Seriously?

We should remember that each day God gives us life, our purpose should be to bring people into the light. Spreading goodness never goes out of style. Be a positive influence on those around us.

Be a light, no matter what day it is…

Body Language

The best poker players in the world don’t always have the best cards to play. They are the best players because they observe their opponents body language. It’s a skill they developed after years of study.

What about our observations? We can get so wrapped up in ourselves that we might miss something in another person. Watch the eyes of your counterpart when engaging in conversation. The eyes tell everything. Listen with your heart…

Judgment

Our society is fully of judgmental people. When we judge others, we are projecting own insecurities onto them. But where does judgment come from?

Judgment is a tool we use to mar our vision. All of us have “blind spots,” and when we judge other people we are blinded to ourselves. But are we?

Remember this: We aren’t blind. What we see in others exists in us…
