Anger

There are two types of anger, irrational anger and righteous anger.

Irrational anger is fear-based. You get mad because someone cuts you off in traffic, or someone acts rudely to you. There is no legitimate reason for either of those situations to make you angry.

We should rage with anger when we see human suffering. People who are trafficked, hungry and broken should stir something within us. Collectively we can unite our anger and do something about compromised people. It begins with me…

Greed

The culture of The United States has become greed. Get more, be more and you are worth more, right?

The consequences of a greedy lifestyle are poor emotional and physical health. Relationships are compromised. People sacrifice quality of life for quantity, yet they never find contentment.

Contentment brings peace into your life. It allows you to see the value you have in the world by your mere presence. Contentment doesn’t take the place of ambition. It puts it in perspective…

What Ifs

Do you ever find yourself falling into the “what if” trap? What if this happens, or what if that happens? This is called worry, and worries are neither helpful or necessary. The things people worry about rarely come true. Do not waste your energy on worry.

Independence Day 2022

I have readers in over 100 countries. Today I ask you to allow me to celebrate the Birthday of The United States of America.

On April 19, 1775 the revolutionary war started. It lasted eight years. On July 4, 1776, the Founding Father delegates of the 13 Colonies declared our independence from the British Monarchy and the battle intensified. King George III was going to do whatever it took to put these belligerents in their place and make them succumb to his rule. He underestimated the strength of a group of people who are participating in something greater than themselves. We won our independence and have grown into the greatest “experiment” the world has ever seen. It is my hope that we continue to prosper and grow, and that we don’t destroy ourselves from the inside. Happy Birthday, America!!

Pretenders

Did you ever play make believe games when you were a child? I certainly did. I would put a cape on and pretend I was Superman. One time I jumped off the roof of our house and pretended to fly. It didn’t end well…

Some people continue make believe into adulthood. They might act a little greater than they really are, trying to impress others.

Allowing other people to see the real you is freeing. It’s true that some people might not like you, but it doesn’t matter. You have to like you, and that requires being comfortable with who you are.

So accept yourself as you are while constantly trying to improve yourself. God created you and me, so we are good enough…

The Right Choice

All of us have made decisions in our lives that haven’t served us well. Sometimes we make the same decisions repeatedly, knowing they are wrong. Forgive yourself if you have been guilty of this.

The choice of how to live our lives is ours and ours alone. We can make decisions that lead us to light and life, or we can pursue darkness. The desire to change begins with abandoning old ways, replacing them with new, better ways. But it’s up to us to decide…
