Steps

Because of the high number of divorces in today’s culture, there are more blended families than ever before. All of us know people with step-dads, step-moms and step siblings. This can cause rifts within the family if we allow it to.

Family dynamics are challenging enough without the added stresses of blending families. Family is part of our identity. In fact, it is the first foundation of who we are.

It isn’t a threat when family’s merge. While we don’t get to choose who our parents are, step families chose to be together. When done correctly, with forethought and intention, blending families together can bring much happiness and fulfillment…

God’s Will

God gets blamed for a lot of bad stuff. When tragedy happens, a child dies or a natural disaster occurs, you hear people say, “well, it’s just God’s will.” This is not true.

In His nature, God cannot do evil. He allows it so we become more reliant on Him and less on ourselves. Even then, we have a choice. People get angry with God, and that’s okay. He can take a punch. Or people lean on God, and He shows up. Always.

We sometimes forget to give God credit for all the good in our lives. Even atheists get clean water and fresh air, all the while thinking it was just some Big Bang that brought us here.

There will always be evil in our broken world. Evil doesn’t fit into God’s plan for our lives, and never will…

Rushing to Judgment

The court of public opinion is open 24/7. Social media has given everyone a voice.

But this has been going on for much longer than Facebook has been around. Do you remember when Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California? People were immediately calling for an amendment to the Constitution to allow him to run for president. Perhaps we should see how he does as Governor before anointing him with oil.

It’s best to let things play out before rushing to judgment. Change takes time. Patience and grace are needed, too…

Political Correctness

Political correctness was first recorded in history at the time of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Today it has morphed into watching your language so you don’t offend anyone.

We are going to offend someone whether we have PC culture or not. Some people are wearing their feelings on their sleeves. They get offended easily, especially if your politics don’t align. This has got to stop. It’s destroying peoples ability to just be themselves for fear of insulting someone accidentally.

When you find yourself in a position where you need to apologize, do it immediately. And if you meant to hurt someone’s feelings, go to work on getting your heart right…

Trash Removal

Are there people in your life who aren’t good for you? Remove them.

If someone is dragging you down, disrespectful and discouraging, the problem is with them, not you. Sometimes it’s hard to recognize when you are in the middle of the storm. But you know something isn’t right.

You are here for a great purpose. The wrong people will get in the way of you achieving it. Take out the trash. Put your faith in God above and ask Him to guide you. He will help you…

Fairness

We all know that life is hard and life isn’t fair. Life on this side of eternity will remain imperfect. But that’s where the beauty lies.

If life was fair and equitable, opportunity wouldn’t exist. We would all be the same.

Take some time to take a personal inventory of all the opportunities you have been given. And be on the lookout for your next opportunity. It’s coming…

What Day Is Today?

Every day is recognized for something. A few days again it was “International Cat Day,” while today is “National Trail Mix Day.” Trail Mix? Seriously?

We should remember that each day God gives us life, our purpose should be to bring people into the light. Spreading goodness never goes out of style. Be a positive influence on those around us.

Be a light, no matter what day it is…
