Hello everyone! I’m taking a day off from work soon. I suggest you do, too. Go do something for yourself. Treat yourself well, and be kind to yourself. Rest and relaxation are good for our spirits…

Growing Pains
Growth happens over time, and sometimes it doesn’t. Allow me to explain.
When I look back on my life a year ago, I see areas that I have grown. Yet I see areas I haven’t improved in, or if I have improved it was only marginal. This frustrates me.
I’m reminded that personal growth will happen, but only if I choose to be responsible for it happening. The choice was mine a year ago, and it remains my choice today…
Imposter
Everyone is an imposter. We say we are living authentically, but are we? There are places where people don’t hide anything, in AA and Al Anon meetings.
I started attending Al Anon in November of 2010. When I went to my first meeting, I was at the lowest point of my life, a mere shell of a man. I found an hour of peace I had never experienced before. People were openly sharing details of their lives and no one was judging them. They listened, but didn’t offer advice. I loved the peaceful spirit in the room so much I went every night for 15 months. I learned great life lessons in Al Anon which I will write more about in coming weeks.
There is no shame in sharing ugly, intimate details of your life with a trusted friend. By doing so, you will be living life more fully and authentically, no longer an imposter…

Limitless
Our minds have unlimited power. How do we tap into that power and use it for good?
The first step is we must believe in the limitless creative possibilities our brains possess. If we don’t believe, we will not get anywhere.
The next step is to stop overthinking things. Quieten your mind and let it do the work. It will, we just need to stay out of the way.
Finally, whatever we have a burning desire for, our minds will become focused like a laser beam to make it happen.
Get quiet, and allow your mind to work for you. It takes daily practice, but then it becomes part of your identity…
Envy
Answer this question honestly, are you envious of someone? If the answer is no, congratulations. You have overcome one of the things that robs us of peace and contentment. But if you said yes, let’s examine this.
The root of envy is dissatisfaction. We aren’t fulfilled in some area of life. The best news? You can change that. You have the ability to take action and do something about the area of life you are dissatisfied in. It’s up to each of us. It always has been in our power.
Turn your envy into fuel to propel yourself forward. Start now…
Toxins
Toxins are everywhere. In the air, our water, even in the food we eat. You practically can’t eliminate something toxic from getting into your system.
But we can control what goes into our minds. We can eliminate the news, websites we should avoid, the books we consume, even negative people. It’s our choice. Choose wisely…
Leaders
For many years, I have written and spoken on leadership. There are a lot of characteristics that make up a good leader, but today I will only focus on one: compassion.
A compassionate leader thinks about the people he or she leads. That type of leader recognizes that an organization will only be as good as the people, and that people need to know they are important, they are valued. And a compassionate leader must be authentic. People can see through bullshit a mile away!
If you are in a leadership role, I encourage you to lead with compassion. You will get the most out of your people by leading this way, and you’ll have greater personal job satisfaction…
Talk To Me
We have conversations with ourselves every waking moment. What is the quality of our conversations?
It’s important to be truthful with ourselves, but remember to be kind. Hold yourself accountable, but don’t berate yourself. Make an attempt to better yourself, and it’s okay if you fall short. Try again. And again. And again. Keep trying…
Escape
There used to be a television commercial for a brand of bubble bath. The slogan was, “Calgon, take me away.” The idea was that the bubble bath would take the bather away from life’s problems, if even for a short while. Ah, if only life was so simple.
People use other methods to escape: alcohol, drugs, pornography and other deviances to numb their pain. When the time away ends, the pain remains. Even plastic surgery is used to try to fix something internal, and oftentimes nothing is broken on the outside. The patient just believes there is.
Face life head on. Work on yourself to heal what hurts. No matter your method of escape, you cannot run away from who you are…
