Imposter

Everyone is an imposter. We say we are living authentically, but are we? There are places where people don’t hide anything, in AA and Al Anon meetings.

I started attending Al Anon in November of 2010. When I went to my first meeting, I was at the lowest point of my life, a mere shell of a man. I found an hour of peace I had never experienced before. People were openly sharing details of their lives and no one was judging them. They listened, but didn’t offer advice. I loved the peaceful spirit in the room so much I went every night for 15 months. I learned great life lessons in Al Anon which I will write more about in coming weeks.

There is no shame in sharing ugly, intimate details of your life with a trusted friend. By doing so, you will be living life more fully and authentically, no longer an imposter…
