I Dare You!

Do you remember being dared to do stupid stuff when you were a kid? And do you remember actually taking the dare, even though you knew it would turn out badly? Stupid pride said we had to do it.

Now I will dare you to do something! I dare you to dream big, even outrageous dreams for your life. Then take a step, even a small one in the direction of your dream. And keep stepping. And no matter how many times you stumble and fall, keep getting back up. No one can keep you down except yourself.

Thank You

I have observed an increase in rudeness over the past several years. Simple niceties like opening doors and saying ‘thank you’ are becoming rarer and rarer. I’m guessing this is because we are busier than we’ve ever been, but that doesn’t make it acceptable.

To all of my followers who read my work, thank you! I appreciate every one of you. You have a choice in how you spend your time, and I’m honored you spend a few moments with me…

The Crowd

Several years ago my youngest son was going down the wrong path. Many people who knew him simply said, “he’s hanging out with the wrong crowd.” I refuse to accept that as more than an excuse. After all, he had to choose the crowd.

We have control over who we allow into our lives. No one can make us associate with them.

I’m happy to report my son got his life on track and is thriving. I’m proud of him and the inner work he has done. And guess what? His crowd has improved, too!

Resources

The government of the United States has incredible resources, but they have proven to be the worst distributor of those resources. Inefficiency and ineffectiveness prevail.

Put the money in the hands of the faith and philanthropic communities. They won’t waste anything, and you will see Heaven and earth move…

Loss

I know many people who have lost children in a variety of ways: accidental drug overdose, suicide, cancer, even murder. The grief never goes away completely, although it lessens a little over time.

The pointless arguing over politics becomes even more inane when you consider it from those parent’s perspective. It’s wasted energy, nothing else.

I encourage you to put your focus on something that will make a difference in the lives of others. The rest is just noise…

Healing

When I was a teenager, my life was full of anger, hatred and resentment. I couldn’t wait to get out of my cruel, sometimes violent home life. I stuffed down a lot of my feelings during these years because I wasn’t “allowed” to feel them. When I finally got free at 18 and moved out, I thought I was leaving my past behind. I thought wrong.

The trauma from the past resurfaces from time to time. Our minds are such incredible supercomputers, lighting fast and efficient at knowing what we need to live fully. We are automatically hardwired to live the way our Creator designed us to live.

Wounds from the past bubble to the top, and we can either face them or stuff them back down. They will return, but our brains know when to allow them to resurface. The wounds appear when we are ready to heal from them. The timing is perfect. Trust the timing…

Friday the 13th

In western culture, the number 13 is considered to represent bad luck. The “cursed” number takes its reputation from Norse mythology.

Luck doesn’t really exist except in our minds. If luck was real then life would be a series of random events. I believe there is a Divine Order to our lives that is bigger than anything we can understand.

Embrace everything that happens to you in life, even the bad stuff. When you accept that there is no randomness, only structure, it makes the bad things easier to navigate. A little easier, anyway…
