The Walls

Living in fear makes you build walls around yourself. If I have my guard up, nothing can hurt me.

We can’t avoid pain and struggles in this world. They are part of life. Erecting an emotional stronghold won’t slow down the difficulties of life.

Be fearless. Look over the wall. Deconstruct it. Otherwise you might miss some of life’s greatest moments…

Hold On

Years ago I decided to eliminate all of the one-sided relationships in my life. You know what I’m talking about, the people you find yourself reaching out to but they never reciprocate. I faced a long period of loneliness after doing this. It was awful.

Around the same time, I faced a stressful financial hardship. Compounded with my loneliness, my world was dark. But I never gave up hope. I realized that since I had put myself in this situation, I could work my way through it. I put my head down and went to work.

If you are in a similar situation in your life, I encourage you to hold on. Better days are coming. We don’t have the luxury of knowing when they will appear, we just know they will. Stay hopeful…

Who Are You Listening To?

We talk to ourselves constantly. When we are feeling good about our lives, we encourage ourselves. Have a run of bad luck and the opposite is true.

But which voice are we listening to? My parents told me I would never amount to anything, that I “wasn’t worth a damn.” For a period of my life, I validated their belief. Until I no longer accepted what they said as true.

Sometimes the voices of doubt and insecurity return, but I don’t have to believe them. Neither do you…

Let’s Do More

Gratitude is a common theme here. Yesterday was the day in the United States where we slow down a little and focus on what we are thankful for. My question is, why don’t we do that every day?

If you want to expand your worldview, I encourage you to write three things down that you are grateful for. Do this every night before you go to sleep. Your mind will cogitate on your gratitude list while you sleep.

Try it for thirty days. Drop a comment telling me what your results are. I’m interested…

Interview with Billy Bob Harris I The Determined People Podcast

Billy Bob Harris is the most connected individual I have ever known. His contact list defies the “six degrees of separation” and brings it down to one degree. He is a connector, a facilitator who quickly connects the dots. Billy Bob spreads encouragement as well, and he is the perfect guest for our Thanksgiving week show.

Watch to the very end for a special Thanksgiving message.

Superspreader

Superspreader is a term that became commonplace during the pandemic. It typically means something negative, something harmful.

Does it have to be a negative event? I say no, no it does not. Why don’t we start a superspreader of kindness and compassion, treating our fellow man the way we want to be treated?

Anything is possible if we believe

Pressure

There are many forms of pressure, from pressure cookers to peer pressure. There are people in our world who will use pressure and intimidation to get their way. Steer clear of those people.

You can get everything you want in life by doing good, not through threats and maneuvering. Leading with a kind and compassionate heart will move mountains, leaving a trail of good. You will be creating a legacy.

There are times when applying pressure is a good thing. Lean into those times and divert your attention away from the pressure you know goes against your values…
