Worth

Do you value yourself? You are worth so much, and we oftentimes don’t consider our true value.

Our brains make over 25,000 independent decisions per second. Mind boggling, isn’t it? Our bodies are physical marvels in the way they work without us commanding them to. But there’s more.

Our worth is found in recognizing that a perfect God created us. In fact, God thought of every single one of us before the earth was formed. If that doesn’t blow your mind, I don’t know what will.

People search for their worth through their zip codes, bank balances, their position and power. These are hollow and will not fill the void. Unfulfilled, people turn to unhealthy habits to numb the pain.

Find your value in healthy habits. The world will still be here…

All or None

Life is rarely black or white. There’s a lot of gray area. This is partially due to different perspectives. Something that might appear to be one way could be misinterpreted by our emotional state of mind.

Many people on dating sites say they are looking for “the one.” Why only one? Perhaps you could be friends with someone without a romantic connection.

Thinking that things are all or none could cause you to overlook some of life’s best opportunities. Be open minded. Be flexible. If “the one” comes along, you will have gained so much more along the way because you were adaptable

Vacations

Summer is here in the Northern Hemisphere! That means it’s time for a vacation, right? But what is the purpose of a vacation?

Taking time away from our daily routines is good. We create memories with our loved ones, and we have an opportunity to unwind from the stresses of life. Experiencing new things also stimulates our minds. Our brains sorta reboot, if you will.

Take a trip this summer, even if it’s a short one. Life’s routines will be waiting for you…

Perfection

Perfectionists drive themselves crazy with any little imperfection they find. And imperfections are everywhere!

Why do we strive for perfection? Can we actually measure it since we, no matter how great we do, will never reach perfection? I say you gotta strive for something, so let’s strive for doing our dead-level best.

There’s nothing like the satisfaction you feel when you have done a good job. The sense of pride is not permanent, but we want to feel it again. As a writer, I know when to stop. Artists know when their painting is complete.

Always give your best, whether it’s in your work or in conversations. Engage fully and eliminate distractions. It is possible to experience that sense of pride every day, even without reaching perfection…

Successful People

Have you heard of people who are called an “overnight success?” Usually those are people in the entertainment business. But there is no success that happens overnight, regardless of the industry.

We see the outcomes, the great achievements. What we don’t see are the lonely times, the failures, the inner doubts and frustrations. Successful people continue trying when things aren’t going well. They simply refuse to accept defeat.

To be successful, you must find what you are meant to do and be willing to work when others aren’t…

Youth Mental Health

Today I want to further address one of my favorite subjects, our young people.

Since the Columbine massacre in 1999, there have been 147 kids killed in school shootings. One child lost is one too many, but there’s something else. Youth suicide has exploded. For each of the 147 deaths, 400 kids have taken their own lives. Mental health has been shredded even more during the pandemic. We can reverse this disturbing trend.

Let’s begin by acknowledging our young people. They are important and need to know they are accepted and loved, whether that love comes from a parent, teacher or someone else.

Everyone needs human connection, and that includes our young people…

Timing

We tend to rush through our day, trying to cram as much in as possible. Maybe I’m the only one?

When we get in a hurry, the odds of us making a mistake go up. This might include not listening to someone who needs to be heard. Instead of creating a deeper connection, we distance ourselves.

I encourage you to slow down, even if it’s just a little. You will do more things right the first time, and fewer opportunities will be missed…

Expectations

When I go to a five-star restaurant, I expect great food, atmosphere and service. If I only received two of the three, then the experience didn’t meet my expectations.

What do I expect from myself? Certainly I expect to give my best in life. For some people, my best isn’t good enough, while for others it’s more than enough.

But what about God? He gives the believer and the non-believer the same fresh air and sunshine. We all get the gift of life. So let’s not take Him for granted.

Jesus told us to “pray expectantly.” Believe we have received it before actually receiving it, thanking God in advance. That’s faith in a nutshell. And I believe it’s good, solid advice…

When

Are you waiting for everything to align perfectly before you begin your life’s dream? I encourage you to stop waiting and start doing. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.

Take a step in the direction of your dreams. Then take another. Expect things to go awry sometimes. You will redirect and be back on track! Just begin…
