Everyone Matters

Every person matters. We can be impressed by the number of degrees people have, their titles, accomplishments or possessions, but that’s not who they are. We are all equally important in the eyes of God. His opinion is the only one that matters.

Treat others with kindness. Show compassion. We are in this battle called life together…

Religion

I don’t believe in organized religion. Religion has been used to hurt people. Personally, I follow Jesus and try to live up to the example He set for us. Jesus was a radical, saying things like “love your enemies,” and “pray for those who persecute you.” One thing He didn’t do was bring the world more religion. He showed us the true character of God.

Religion will continue. The rules of religion (no drinking or dancing etc) will remain. I simply study the life of the One who redeemed and restored hurting people…

As The Wind Blows…

Is your mood changed by things that happen to you? I believe all of us are to some extent. When something good comes along, we feel a moment of happiness.

Life will always be unpredictable. It is our responsibility to ensure we don’t allow the unknowns in life to set our mood. If we do, our emotions will feel like a rollercoaster. Up sometimes, down the other.

Our Creator gave us free will over one thing: our attitude. Let’s keep ours focused on our one true north. The unknown events of our lives will keep coming, but our attitude about how we adapt and handle them doesn’t have to change…

Positive Thinking

Millions of books have been written about positive thinking. Millions more will be written. And we know too well that popular saying, “Let go. Let God.” That sounds great until you have to actually do it.

Ceding our desire to control is scary. We want our lives to have happy endings, so we try to control outcomes. Controlling things we have no control over doesn’t work.

Our Creator gives us control over one thing: our attitude. Keep yours focused on whatever is good, right and noble. That’s better than any self-help book…

The Past

Have you ever made a mistake? That’s a loaded question, I know, because all of us have made mistakes. A better question is, what have you done with past mistakes? We can either learn from them, or be stuck in them.

When we learn from past errors, we change our behavior and we grow. Repeating old, unhealthy patterns usually leads to the same results. Change can be hard, I know, but change is required for different outcomes. Embrace the change and move forward. Be focused and be fearless.

One last point about past mistakes. Leave them in the past. You don’t live there anymore…

My interview with Christian Moore, Part 1

Christian Moore is an internationally renowned speaker, author and founder of the WhyTry program which teaches resilience to kids in schools.
Christian is an expert on resilience. He wrote “The Resilience Breakthrough,” selling well over 100,000 copies. But Christian Moore is a name we probably should have never heard of.
Moore grew up without much structure in his home. He has multiple learning disabilities, reading at only a 7th grade level. Yet through hard work, perseverance and yes, resilience, Christian holds a master’s degree from Brigham Young University.
In part one of our three-part interview, you will learn about his crazy upbringing, and about the wonderful people God placed in his life that shaped and guided him.

Ownership

Take ownership of your life. None of us are victims of our circumstances. If we give up on our dreams and desires, then we become a prisoner in a cell we created.

Our circumstances will change, but our dreams don’t have to die unless we allow them to perish. And that prison cell I mentioned? You hold the key to unlock it. Every day…
