We live in a broken, imperfect world. Good and bad things happen to us. Rather than asking why they happened, ask what can I learn from this. We learn more from bad experiences than the good…

Dirt
The National Enquirer was founded in 1926 as a legitimate news source, but subscriptions didn’t take off until the late 1950’s when the publication morphed into a sensational tabloid. It seemed The Enquirer had found it’s niche.
Why is there an appetite for getting the dirt on famous people’s lives? They are just like you and me with families, friends, struggles, successes and heartache. Perhaps we like to focus on the lives of others so we don’t have to look at ourselves. Or maybe we empathize with their plight and realize, they are just like us.
Introspection is the difficult, but worthwhile way to go. Leave the lives of others alone, and keep the focus on building your life…
Mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes. Every day. There’s even a series of books for “dummies” that are designed to keep us from making mistakes when we are learning something new!
Our past mistakes or the fear of making a mistake shouldn’t prevent us from trying and learning new things. They are part of the process.
When was the last time you tried something new? Why not make it today…
What a Drag
People who have mediocre mindsets will try to drag you down to their way of thinking. You can’t lift them up. It’s best to take the hard step and separate yourself from those people. They will find other prey, and you will be better off…
Oops!
Have you ever said something and instantly regretted it? If we are being honest, we all have. And we will again!
When you find yourself in this position, apologize immediately. Don’t make excuses such as, “I’m having a bad day.” The excuse just takes away from the apology. It doesn’t excuse bad behavior.
Try to take the high road. Always. But when you go low, make amends…
Failure
We fail at things every day. But how you define failure will determine if you really have failed or not.
Your failures don’t define you unless you allow them to. Having a success mindset means you are willing to accept some failures along the way. When you understand this, you will be free of the fear of failure and you become unstoppable.
Schemes
There are no “get rich quick” or “lose weight without diet or exercise” plans. These offer results without requiring any real effort on our part.
Real satisfaction comes from earning your way through life. Yes, it is challenging to lose weight and get toned, but it’s possible. You can do anything you set your mind to. You just have to want it…
Unlearn
Hate, fear, doubt and worry are learned behaviors. They do not serve us well.
Anything we learned can be unlearned, if we want to change…
Anger
There are two types of anger, irrational anger and righteous anger.
Irrational anger is fear-based. You get mad because someone cuts you off in traffic, or someone acts rudely to you. There is no legitimate reason for either of those situations to make you angry.
We should rage with anger when we see human suffering. People who are trafficked, hungry and broken should stir something within us. Collectively we can unite our anger and do something about compromised people. It begins with me…
The Right Choice
All of us have made decisions in our lives that haven’t served us well. Sometimes we make the same decisions repeatedly, knowing they are wrong. Forgive yourself if you have been guilty of this.
The choice of how to live our lives is ours and ours alone. We can make decisions that lead us to light and life, or we can pursue darkness. The desire to change begins with abandoning old ways, replacing them with new, better ways. But it’s up to us to decide…
