The Importance of Stretching

Yesterday I went on a long walk. For some reason, probably laziness, I didn’t stretch before or after my walk. This morning my hamstrings are tight, reminding me to stretch next time. Our bodies give us clear signals.

But I want to address a different type of stretching: stretching our faith. In yesterday’s column I wrote about my experience with tithing. Tithing stretched my faith which means I was uncomfortable for a while. But I didn’t waver. And God came through.

Do you have friends or family members you trust completely? You know them to be reliable every time. But they are human with the flaws of an imperfect person. God isn’t like us. He’s perfect, trustworthy and reliable. He gave us a guidebook for life. We simply need to read it and apply what we read. I learned about tithing in Scripture.

Stretching your faith will challenge you. You will experience discomfort. But if you stay the course, rely on God for guidance and don’t give up, your life will be enriched beyond measure.

Try it. Stretch your faith…

Win Some. Lose Some. Win In The End…

Life isn’t fair. It has its share of ups and downs. Victories and losses. Happy times and long, lonely days and nights. Neither the good periods or the bad ones last forever. But we do.

God didn’t create us and then forget about us. He put us here for a purpose. Part of that purpose is to prepare us for eternity. We won’t be sitting around doing nothing on the other side of life.

The heart of man is what God wants. He spoke about this all through the Bible. He looks through us, all the way down to the fiber of our DNA. Then He looks a little further.

I encourage you to welcome the challenges life throws your way. God is preparing you for something. Be vigilant…

I’m Disappointed

Have you ever experienced disappointment? Of course you have. So have I, and I have disappointed other people.

Disappointment is part of life. The world we live in is imperfect. No matter how hard we try we can’t escape disappointment.

The most important person to not disappoint is yourself. Do your best, always. Pick yourself up when things go awry. Keep going during the good times and the bad.

Stay focused on your goals and dreams. Don’t quit when disappointments happen. You will succeed if you refuse to give up…
