Powerless

The power of your mind is unlimited because it is the portal to the spiritual realm. Our only limitations are those we place on ourselves. You must understand this before you read another word: what we believe will come to pass.

Take inventory of your beliefs. Start with yourself. Are you capable of thinking and feeling? Do all five of your senses work? Can you see and hear? If the answer is yes, you are already way ahead. Obviously I’m being facetious. The point is, you are equipped with everything you need to create the life you want. It’s your mind that needs redirection.

Picture yourself succeeding. See yourself living the life you want to live. Be creative and be audacious. Do not allow any negativity to enter your thoughts. You can control your thoughts if you work at it.

You can get everything you want in life. Others are powerless, not you. You just have to believe it’s possible…

But It’s My Idea!

Have you ever worked on something that turned out great, but someone else took credit for it? Some people are so determined to make a name for themselves that they cut corners or take shortcuts.

Accomplishments are one of the reasons we work at things. You will get results only through placing time and concentrated effort into something. Do you want your children to grow up to have solid character and a strong work ethic? You must put in the effort with your children and it’s not easy. But you will get results if you stay with it.

People have been taking credit for other people’s work forever. It doesn’t matter. You will always know, but so will God. And the collective good is the outcome.

Harry Truman once said, “it’s amazing what you can accomplish if you don’t care who gets the credit.” It was true when he said it, and it is true today…

Desperation

There are innumerable people living with unfulfilled dreams for their lives. Trading one’s identity for security is nothing new. In the 1850’s, Thoreau wrote, “ the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation, and die with their song still in them.”

We see the effects of this inner turmoil in our world. It is manifested by alcoholism, drug abuse and other destructive behaviors. Damaged people leave a trail of carnage in their wake. It doesn’t have to end like this.

Take control of your thoughts. Work on yourself. Break it down into manageable increments. If you get too far ahead in your thinking, it can be destructive. Stick with one day at a time. We can do anything for just one day.

When you drive by a cemetery, take a moment to consider all of the unfulfilled promise each of those lives offered. You won’t end up like them.

Don’t die with your song still in you. It’s time to start singing…

Getting Lucky

Elon Musk famously said, “For years I worked 20 hours a day, seven days a week. But there are still people who say I got lucky.”

The truth is, we create our own luck. Our results come from ingenuity and effort, not some magical genie. Sweat equity brings fruit, but there’s a lot of failures, frustrations and setbacks along the way. The people who refuse to quit are sometimes called lucky. The people who say that are afraid to step out in faith and try something new, or perhaps they are just lazy.

Take the brave first step. Then take another. Fear is not an option for you.

Make your move. It’s time…

Imagine That!

Our creative imagination is a powerful gift from the Creator. Everything starts with an idea.

Consider the two bicycle repairmen who dreamed of flying. You know them as Orville and Wilbur Wright.

What about the man who only had two months of formal education? When he died, he had over 1,000 patents credited to him. No one would call Thomas Edison dumb.

The first biography I read as a child was about an incredible woman who dreamed of freedom. Not only did she take enormous risks to escape to a free life for herself, this gun-toting, barely five feet tall woman went back and brought hundreds of slaves to the north where they could be free. Harriet Tubman was her name.

If you can dream it, you can do it. Get on the creative side of your mind and let your imagination run wild. As Albert Einstein said, “imagination is more important than knowledge.”

Believe it, and believe in yourself…

Do It Anyway

You are here for a purpose, a great purpose. God advances His Kingdom agenda on earth through us. Each and every one of us has a part to fulfill. If you search your heart you know this to be true.

Things constantly get in our way which can throw us off course. By things, I mean diversions, hurdles, setbacks, distractions, people and just life itself. Fear of the unknown can stop people in their tracks. Yet, consider this: all of life is unknown. So, embrace whatever you may fear and move through it.

Keep the people who encourage you and challenge you close by. Eliminate noise and negativity from your life. Push yourself when you don’t feel like it. Be patient with yourself and remember you are growing.

Always encourage those who are trying. Leave the naysayers behind…

Rare Like No Other

Do you take the time to consider how rare you are? Since the beginning of mankind walking the Earth, you are the only you who has ever been, or will be. We are talking about over 100 billion people, yet only one you has ever existed or ever will exist.

God loves variety, no doubt. If you need evidence, just look around. People come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Then take a moment to look in the mirror. I hope you like who you see, because there was nothing random in creating your life. You were planned before the planet and the stars existed.

Think about this every day. Let it seep deep into your subconscious mind where it will change how you feel about yourself.

God didn’t create you and then forget about you. No! He wants you to grow and thrive. The only limitations you have are those you place on yourself.

Go show the world who you are. And remember, you are working for an audience of one…

Learning Curves

A lot of early life is trial and error. When we were babies and learning how to walk, there were a handful of stumbles and falls before we got it right! And yet we survived.

As adults, we haven’t figured out everything even though some act like they have. Life is a continuous learning process where we find ways that work while still learning what doesn’t. And as long as we are trying to learn and grow, this is how it will be. You really haven’t failed unless you believe you have. You have simply found a way that doesn’t work!

Abraham Lincoln ran for public office nine times before ever winning a race. He didn’t quit when most would have. No one would call Lincoln a failure.

I encourage you to be a lifelong learner. Read instead of watching television. Connect with other people in person, not through text messages. Drink from the wisdom of the great philosophers. And remember to talk to God during your day. He’s the one who gave us everything we have.

When life throws you curves, remember that you can hit those, too…

Consistency is Key

How are you doing with your resolutions? This week is our first full week since New Year’s, so the grind begins.

I encourage you to stay consistent in your pursuit. Change isn’t like flipping a light switch, and real change is challenging. Don’t fool yourself. The temptation to give up is going to present itself regularly. Stay true to your new, better course.

In your mind, see yourself as having already won the battle. Believe it. When you can bring emotion into the equation, you have become unstoppable. Whatever you believe about yourself will manifest. Guaranteed!

If you slip back into old habits along the way, pick yourself up and begin again. Nothing can stop a person who refuses to quit…
