Free Speech

There’s an old story told by Ronald Reagan. It seems an American and a Russian were arguing about who had a better form of government. The American said “I can walk into the Oval Office and tell the President that I don’t like the way he’s running the country.” The Russian replied, “I can do that. I can walk into the Kremlin and tell the General Secretary that I don’t like the way President Reagan is running his country!”

Free speech is a wonderful gift we enjoy in the United States. Cancel culture is trying to destroy it, and they will succeed if we don’t fight to protect it. Too many people take it for granted. A laissez-faire attitude combined with arrogance is guaranteed self-destruction.

When Charlie Kirk was assassinated, there were stories of people losing their jobs because they openly celebrated his death as a wonderful thing. Personally, I don’t believe most of them should have been fired for this. I do believe they should examine their own heart. Anyone who celebrates the death of a young man, leaving a widow and two children without a father has a lot of darkness in their hearts. Kirk was killed while exercising his right to free speech.

The heart is deceptive. Guard it, and use your right to speak freely to bring some goodness into this crazy world we live in. There will be some who will try to cancel you or de-platform your message. You gotta keep going when they do…

Free Radicals

In the science world, free radicals are unstable molecules that are missing an electron, which makes them highly reactive. They are produced naturally in the body, but outside influences such as pollution, smoke and processed foods can cause them, too.

What happened to the Democrats? The party used to represent working people while also standing up for free speech. Today’s party is full of elites who detest the working class. And the crazies shout you down when you disagree with them. This represents a far cry from the party of JFK.

Jesus was a radical. He revolutionized his era, preaching love while hanging around with the people who were outcast by the religious leaders of their time. Jesus gave people hope and he never wavered.

Today’s Democrats are the free radicals in the physical world. Not all of them, of course. Just the far-left wing which are the ones who get most of the attention.

My encouragement to you is to continue standing up for what is true, right and just. Those things transcend politics…

Fire!

Did you know that you can yell “Fire” in a crowded theater and not be held liable? Free speech allows this, and I’m glad it does even if it is morally wrong.

Free speech is a treasure, and it has been under attack ever since the First Amendment was passed. Freedom of speech allows you to say something I might not like or agree with, but your right to say it is protected. Without free speech we have government rules about what we can say. Say something the political class doesn’t like and you will be jailed.

Freedom of speech can be lost in a generation. We must protect it at all costs…

Freedom

The freedoms we enjoy in the United States came at a cost. Much blood was spilled defending our rights to free speech and liberty. We must hold these things deep in our hearts, because they are not permanent. They can be lost.

On this Thanksgiving day, I’m grateful I was born here during this era in history. My calling is to inspire others, and to spread encouragement, strength and hope to a world in desperate need of it.

Stay hopeful…

Independence Day 2022

I have readers in over 100 countries. Today I ask you to allow me to celebrate the Birthday of The United States of America.

On April 19, 1775 the revolutionary war started. It lasted eight years. On July 4, 1776, the Founding Father delegates of the 13 Colonies declared our independence from the British Monarchy and the battle intensified. King George III was going to do whatever it took to put these belligerents in their place and make them succumb to his rule. He underestimated the strength of a group of people who are participating in something greater than themselves. We won our independence and have grown into the greatest “experiment” the world has ever seen. It is my hope that we continue to prosper and grow, and that we don’t destroy ourselves from the inside. Happy Birthday, America!!
